first_img Out? Andre Schurrle – Click the arrow for more – The German World Cup winner has been on the fringes of the first-team this season, and despite Mourinho’s insistence he is not for sale, a big offer could prove irresistible. Schurrle started the FA Cup win over Watford, but was hauled off half-time along with being replaced at the break in the previous game against Southampton, and he was left out of the squad altogether for the Newcastle game. German clubs Wolfsburg and Borussia Dortmund look the most likely destination for Schurrle and a return to his homeland seems imminent in the coming weeks. Jose Mourinho insists Chelsea are still just candidates in the title race despite the Blues’ two-point lead over champions Manchester City.Chelsea have seen a eight-point lead at top of the league evaporate in recent weeks, coupled with the humiliating New Years’ Day loss at Tottenham Hotspur.Mourinho maintains the Blues are unlikely to do business this month but after the departures of Juan Mata and Kevin De Bruyne last January, anything is possible at the Bridge.Defence and attack look to be Chelsea’s most pressing concerns, with Gary Cahill suffering a dip in form, while forwards Diego Costa, Didier Drogba and Loic Remy have all had fitness concerns at different stages this season.Click the arrow above to check out Chelsea’s possible January ins and outs.Chelsea fans, who would you like to see to see arrive at Stamford Bridge? Comment below… In? Raphael Varane – Click the arrow for more – Ever since last season, the Blues have been linked with a move for the Frenchman who played under Mourinho at Real Madrid. Varane is already one of the world’s best defenders – comfortable in possession, quick and a good reader of the game – and he would be the ideal long-term heir to John Terry. Madrid would be reluctant to sell, and it will take a sizeable bid to prize the 21-year-old from the Spanish capital. In? Mattia Destro – Click the arrow for more – The Blues were reportedly interested in the Italian forward in the summer and it would be no surprise to see Mourinho return for the 23-year-old this month. Diego Costa has been a sensation this season, but with Chelsea still firing on all four fronts – Premier League, Champions League, Capital One Cup and FA Cup – and Didier Drogba and Loic Remy struggling with fitness, a move for the striker could materialise. Moreover, Costa has ensured his own fitness issues and a quality replacement would enable Mourinho to rest his star striker and complement his attacking options. 4 Out? Mohamed Salah – The Egypt international has made just nine starts for the Blues since his £11m move from Swiss side Basel last January. The 24-year-old has failed to make an impression at Stamford Bridge and so far this season, Salah has featured sparingly – with appearances restricted to the Capital One Cup and cameo roles off the bench in the league. Besiktas president Fikret Orman confirmed he is trying to close a deal for Salah and he was present at Chelsea’s win against Newcastle, while German side Hamburg also want the Egyptian but on loan. 4 4 4last_img read more
