first_img View post tag: Republic of Singapore Navy Singapore Navy frigate visits Japan on way back from RIMPAC View post tag: RSS Steadfast Back to overview,Home naval-today Singapore Navy frigate visits Japan on way back from RIMPAC Authoritiescenter_img September 5, 2016 The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN)’s Formidable-class frigate RSS Steadfast made a port call at the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF)’s Yokosuka Naval Base from August 22 to September 5, 2016.During the port call, RSN Fleet Commander Colonel Cheong Kwok Chien called on Commander-in-Chief of the JMSDF Fleet Vice-Admiral (VADM) Yasuhiro Shigeoka and Commandant of Yokosuka District VADM Tetsuro Doshita.RSS Steadfast participated in a naval exercise with the JMSDF’s Takanami-class destroyer JS Takanami in conjunction with the port call. The exercise included tactical manoeuvres, communications drills and anti-submarine warfare procedures. As part of the professional exchanges between the two navies, ship visits and a naval aviation workshop were also conducted.RSS Steadfast recently completed the multinational Rim of the Pacific Exercise (Ex RIMPAC) in Hawaii and is currently on the return leg of its three-month deployment.
