first_imgBROOKVILLE, Ind. – The Indiana Attorney General’s Office informed local county clerk’s to move forward with issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples that wish to wed.Clerk’s offices received the email Tuesday after a federal appeals court formally lifted Indiana’s ban on gay marriage.The state office instructed county clerks that they must issue the license, pending the couples meet all other marriage license requirements.The U.S. Supreme Court determined Monday it would not hear cases from Indiana, and four other states on the controversial debate, which led to the ban being lifted.Same-sex unions are now legal in 24 states and six additional states could soon be added to the list.last_img
