An “Urban Meyer Rally” is taking place on the north end of Ohio Stadium in Columbus this evening. Dozens of Buckeye fans have shown up in scarlet and gray with signs showing support for the head coach. The photos, unsurprisingly, are troubling. It’s fine to like Urban Meyer and to want to wait for Ohio State’s investigation to conclude before making any final decisions on his future, but there really isn’t a need to have a rally outside the stadium right now. It’s simply not a great look, no matter what comes out. No one, at this moment, knows everything that happened.ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit seems to agree.“Ohhh boyyy,” he tweeted.“Ummmm…..excuse me, woman to the right in the shades..Brett McMurphy, who broke the story, doesn’t work for ESPN.”The following photo from The Athletic’s Ari Wasserman is going particularly viral:Ohhh boyyy. Ummmm…..excuse me, woman to the right in the shades..Brett McMurphy, who broke the story, doesn’t work for ESPN. https://t.co/9XLGwcGo4K— Kirk Herbstreit (@KirkHerbstreit) August 6, 2018Several photos of the rally have been tweeted out by those who are outside Ohio Stadium. An “Urban Meyer rally” search on Twitter results in plenty of them.Ohio State, meanwhile, said on Sunday night that the investigation into Urban Meyer is expected to be concluded in roughly two weeks. Meyer has been on paid administrative leave since last Wednesday night.
