Delhi Police plans to extern 800 criminals from city boundaries

first_imgNew Delhi: Soon there is a possibility that more than 800 criminals can be externed from the city boundaries. Sources said that Delhi Police had identified the people with criminal records and initiated the externment process.According to a senior official, they have initiated externment proceedings to ensure that criminals are out of the area and are unable to create trouble. “Police keep a record of people with criminal activities. Police are taking stern action against those who are habitual offender and continuously breaking the law, said the official. Adding further, police sources disclosed that 107 externment proposals were initiated against bootleggers and drug traffickers. Sources told Millennium Post that recently a meeting was held at Delhi Police headquarters (PHQ), headed by Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik. The police chief reviewed the action taken by districts and units against habitual bootleggers, drug traffickers and bad characters. As many as 215 externment proposals were from Outer North district against BCs. “Taking strict action against liquior trafficking, North East district initiated 17 externment proposals against bootleggers whereas Rohini-14 and West-14 proposals were initiated,” sources said. The city police started their preparations for the security arrangement of upcoming Independence Day. Close surveillance is being kept on the movements of criminals and habitual offenders. Sources said that in one of the crime review meetings, the CP told senior officers that they should make meaningful preventive strategies for better results. Special CP (law and order) and Joint CP (ranges) should review their preventive strategies as well as the efforts for crime detection at their own levels and a distinct improvement should be brought about. Sources added that in the meeting, senior officers were further told that whenever a BC comes out from the jail, proper track should be kept on his activities. In the case of a repeat offence by jail release criminal, robber, snatcher, BC, an accountability analysis of division/beat staff and SHO must be done by district DCPs.last_img
