SELECTMEN NEWS Big Issues To Be Discussed At Tonights Meeting September 10

first_imgWILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington Board of Selectmen meets this Monday, September 10, 2018 at 7pm at Town Hall (Room 9).There are some noteworthy items on the agenda, including:Selectmen will discuss economic development with Massachusetts Secretary of Housing & Economic Development Jay Ash and Wilmington’s state legislative delegation — Senator Bruce Tarr (R-Gloucester) & Rep. Ken Gordon (D-Bedford).Selectmen will receive a letter from Police Chief Michael Begonis and Fire Chief Joe McMahon regarding the tragic drowning at Silver Lake on August 29.Selectmen will receive an update from Town Manager Jeff Hull regarding the town’s agreement with Russell Disposal.Olin/NET Update (Pt.1): Selectmen will receive a letter, presumably from Town Counsel, sent to the Surface Transportation Board in opposition to New England Transrail’s petition for a change in ownership.Olin/NET Update (Pt. 2): Selectmen will receive a letter from Attorney Mike Newhouse requesting a meeting regarding a proposal to develop a warehouse facility on the Olin site. Selectmen will also receive a letter from Steve Goodman, Manager of Wilmington Woburn Intermodal LLC in response to questions regarding the proposal.Selectmen will consider the request of the Recreation Commission to hold its 51st Annual Horribles Parade on Sunday, October 28.Selectmen will consider the request of the Wilmington United Methodist Church (John Arvanitis) and Boy Scout Troop 56 (John Mainini) to obtain the necessary license to sell Christmas trees in town.Selectmen will consider the request of Wilmington Farmers Market President Dana Burnham to extend the Farmers Market’s season by adding Sunday, October 7 and Sunday, October 14.Selectmen will consider the request of RMLD Communications Manager Joyce Mulvaney to place signs on the Town Common.Selectmen will receive correspondence from Wilmington’s Health & Recovery Coordinator Samantha Reif regarding the town’s National Recovery Month efforts.Selectmen will receive a memo from Town Manager Jeff Hull regarding 2018 Annual Town Meeting Warrant Articles.The meeting will be telecast live by Wilmington Community Television on WCTV-G — Channel 22 on Comcast and Channel 38 on Verizon.  The meeting will also be streamed on WCTV’s website HERE.Wilmington Apple intends to report on many of the items above – and any other news that comes from the meeting — over the next two weeks. Wilmington Apple sometimes live-tweets the meeting HERE.Like Wilmington Apple on Facebook.
