It is further alleged the woman took the extreme step as her husband and in-laws tortured her for dowry.According to sources, Santoshi Pramanik of Nepalgunge at Bishnupur in South 24-Parganas got married to Uttam Pramanik of Bonhooghly in Narendrapur approximately seven years ago. During their marriage Santoshi’s family reportedly gave the couple several furniture and other valuables as dowry. Approximately after a year, Santoshi gave birth to a baby. Till then, there were no problems between the couple or with the in-laws. They use to allegedly taunt Santoshi regarding the things her father gave them during their marriage and claimed the items they received during the dowry were not good. After another a few months Uttam forced her to go to her father to get more money. When she refused, Uttam and his family members allegedly beat her many times. Altercation between them over money had become frequent. Later, Santoshi was admitted at the M R Bangur Hospital in a critical condition. Set three decades back in the bylanes of Kolkata’s Ballygunge, a theatre production by director Atul Satya Koushik explores, along with love, longing and loss, a genre under-done in Hindi drama – that of mystery and suspense. The 85-minute play ‘Ballygunge 1990’ attracts with its lead actor, ‘Crime Patrol’ anchor Annup Sonii, but retains audience engagement with its storyline and execution. Annup describes the Hindi play as the “revenge story” of a relationship where his character abandons a lover for ambition and returns years later after failing. Directed without intervals or even a blackout, the play escalates from a seemingly simple love story, to one of crimes, and ultimately vindication. Also Read – Add new books to your shelfHowever, in the Hindi dramatic landscape, one would find plenty of socio-political and mythological themes, but not many thrillers. Koushik himself has debuted in this genre with ‘Ballygunge 1990’, popularly explained as the revenge story of a failed relationship. “Suspense and thriller is not a genre much explored in Indian theatre, especially Hindi theatre. So, I thought of a play which has love in its foreground, undertones of suspense and mystery in the background. The characters are not real, but emotions are real and come from what I see around,” Koushik said. The romantic-thriller play has been produced by the Film and Theatre Society. And, it was staged in the Capital on July 21, 2019.

We don’t have to preach the cause of the flat-panel monitor anymore. Everybody knows they’re affordable, space-saving and easy on the eyes. The question now is, Which LCD monitor should you buy?The 17 and 19-inch flat panels are practically budget models these days. The real action is happening in the slightly larger 20 and 21-inch screens. They’re still affordable, and they’re not so enormous that they dwarf your desk or make you feel like you’re sitting in the front row at the local cineplex. We rounded up a good selection of 20-inch LCDs suitable for general business use. These models tend to skim in at prices under $400 and, in some cases, under $300.There are certain features you can expect to find in a solid 20-inch business monitor. Look for both digital and analog inputs. That means that you’ll be able to hook up to both older analog equipped desktops as well as newer machines with digital outputs. A three-year warranty is standard. Widescreen designs are incredibly popular right now, mirroring a trend in notebook displays. If you plan on viewing video and wide spreadsheets or tiling multiple windows, this is a nice design feature. Most monitors in this range are VESA-compliant to be wall-mounted if you choose. You will run into a host of technical specs such as contrast ratio, dot pitch, response time and brightness. Technophiles, especially those who frequently work with graphics or multimedia applications, will want to spend some time com-paring and contrasting these. Response time in particular has been getting a lot of attention. Faster generally is better–a 10-millisecond response time should give a better video performance than a 20-ms response time. Both the ViewSonic VG2030wm and the Hewlett-Packard LP2045w boast 5-ms response times. But the best measure is still personal experience. If you have the opportunity to try a monitor before you buy, put it through its paces with a DVD and note whether the video has any digital noise or ghosting. Look for smooth, clean video performance.Extra features can make the difference when you’re shopping for a moni-tor. The $399 (all prices street) Dell UltraSharp 2007WFP, for example, comes with a built-in four-port USB 2.0 hub, picture-in-picture capabilities and the ability to double as an HD-compatible TV. The $329 ViewSonic VG2030wm comes stocked with integrated speakers. When it comes to budget 20-inch LCD monitors, you might have to make some trade-offs to get that ultra-affordable price point. Pivot is usually the first feature to go. If you need to work with spreadsheets and other long documents, then you’ll want to look for pivot capabilities and pay the few extra dollars. General adjustability can make a big difference when it comes to viewing comfort. That includes height adjustment, swivel and tilt. The Westinghouse Digital LCM-20v5 hits a very attractive sub $300 price point with a fast 8-ms response time, but it is somewhat limited in adjustability. It might be tempting to shop for the biggest monitor you can afford, but your best bet may be to invest in two smaller monitors. A dual 20-inch moni-tor setup won’t stress your budget too much, but it will boost your productivity and give you tons of viewing space for multiple programs and windows. There are plenty of different LCD manufacturers to look into. Also check out offerings from Envision, Gateway, LaCie, Lenovo, Planar and Sony. All those options mean you have a variety of 20, 21, and even 22-inch flat-panel monitors to choose from. Just match up your budget to the feature set you desire. Register Now » Almost six months after the Heartbleed bug was discovered, another security flaw has been uncovered. And the “Bash bug” has the potential to be even more dangerous. The 25-year-old security vulnerability is based in the “Bash shell,” a program that controls the command prompt and is used for many simple tasks on your computer, like opening an application. The “Bash” or “Shellshock” bug affects computers running Unix and Linux devices, as well as hardware running Mac OS X, reports CNET.The bug is triggered when a hacker adds extra code to lines of Bash code, allowing him or her to potentially take control of your device and access your private information. The hack is reportedly low complexity, which could be catastrophic when paired with the wide range of devices in danger. The National Vulnerability Database ranks the bug a 10 out of 10 in terms of severity, so it really can’t get much worse than this.Related: Another Hack: Jimmy John’s Is the Latest Chain to Suffer a Data BreachSince Bash is so widely used in operating systems, a huge volume of devices are likely to be vulnerable to the bug. Especially at risk are “Internet-of-Things” devices, which often use software built from web-enabled bash scripts and are less likely to be patched than a laptop. Without patching something like your home security system or a light bulb that is connected to your network, the bug can allow hackers to access everything behind your firewall. Also at risk are older devices. Since the security flaw has been around for a quarter of a century, there will be many vulnerable devices that likely won’t be patched, putting users’ entire networks at risk.Users have been advised to patch their operating systems ASAP. Keep an eye out for available updates that fix the vulnerability, and download as soon as they are available. The Galaxy A7 is a higher-end version of the Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5 phones Samsung announced in October. The A7 has a larger 5.5-inch screen, making it about the same size as the Galaxy Note 2 and iPhone 6 Plus. It comes with a 13-megapixel camera and a 5-megapixel front camera like the Galaxy A5, too. It’ll be available in black, white, and gold when it launches, but Samsung hasn’t specified exactly when it will be released. There’s also no word on how much it will cost, although the company says it will be “competitive.” We’ve been hearing rumors about the Galaxy A7 for months, but Samsung hasn’t confirmed any information about the device until now. It’s the fourth phone in Samsung’s line of A-series smartphones with chamfered metal edges similar to those of the iPhone 5 and 5s.Galaxy A7Image credit: SamsungSamsung first introduced this design element with its Galaxy Alpha in August, but a report from the Korean news source ET News suggests it may discontinue that device in favor of its new Galaxy A3, A5, and A7 phones. There’s a chance the A7 will be released in select markets at first, such as China or South Korea, but we won’t know for sure until Samsung makes more announcements about availability. Mark Spoonauer, LAPTOP Editor in Chief This is annoying. Apple ships the iPad Pro with a 1-meter USB-C cable, which isn’t nearly as long as power cords for most laptops. You can buy a 2-meter USB-C cable, but it costs an extra $19.Credit: Laptop Mag Thinner and lighter full-screen design Taking a cue from the iPhone XS, the new iPad Pro sports thin bezels and ditches the Home button; instead, you now use gestures to close apps and switch between apps. Touch ID gets replaced by Face ID, which works in both portrait and landscape modes. The 11-inch iPad Pro weighs just 1.03 pounds and measures 0.23 inches thick, compared to 1.08 pounds and 0.24 inches for the previous model. The new 12.9-inch iPad is just as thin and weighs 1.39 pounds, compared to 1.49 pounds for is predecessor. The new iPad Pro’s panel is bright and vivid. For example, the 12.9-inch model hit 484 nits of brightness on our tests, which is more luminous than the Surface Pro 6 and Samsung Galaxy Book 2. This panel’s hues are the most accurate, too, as the iPad Pro registered a Delta-E rating of 0.56 (0 is perfect). The Surface and Galaxy Book turned in worse color accuracy results.Other iPad display highlights include Pro Motion technology, which scales the refresh rate based on the on-screen content, and True Tone, which can dynamically adjust the color temperature of the screen for a more comfy reading experience. The new Apple Pencil also offers handy gestures, such as quickly activating the eraser function with a double tap on the edge of the Pencil. Great audio The new iPad Pro includes a host of upgrades, including a striking full-screen design, a much faster A12X Bionic processor and an improved Apple Pencil. But these tablets are not cheap: The 11-inch iPad Pro starts at $799, and the 12.9-inch model starts at $999. On our web surfing battery test, the tablet lasted a very good 13 hours and 14 minutes. That beats the Surface Pro 6 by nearly 4 hours. The Dell XPS 13 with 4K display lasted under 9 hours, but the 1080p version lasted about 12 hours. Samsung’s Galaxy Book 2 endured for 10:41. If you’re going to kick back with the iPad and watch Netflix or stream Spotify, you’ll be happy to know that its four speakers deliver excellent stereo sound. In side-by-side tests against the Surface Pro 6, Apple’s slate offered louder sound with much more robust bass. Plus, Apple packed five mics into this slate, which means you can bark your “Hey, Siri” queries from across the room with ease. Advertisement The A12X Bionic processor in the iPad Pro is hands-down the fastest chip we’ve tested in a mobile device. It even beats Core i7-powered laptops in some tests. For instance, it took the new iPad Pro just under 7 minutes to transcode a 4K video to 1080p, while it took the Dell XPS 13 more than a half hour. The iPad Pro also turned in a much faster Geekbench 4 score than most competing tablets, laptops and 2-in-1s, hitting 17,995. Plus, there’s no touchpad on board, and iOS doesn’t support touchpad or mouse input. Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable information by Martin Brinkmann on April 10, 2017 in Tutorials – Last Update: June 23, 2019 – 11 commentsIf you check the list of installed programs on a Windows PC that you have used for some time, you may notice that it has several, often a lot, Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable installation listings. The PC that I use to write this article for instance has three Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable, eight Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable, two Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable, three Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable, and two Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable installations listed on that page.Questions that may come to mind include why there are so many same-year versions installed, and whether you need all of those, or if you can simply keep the most recent version of each year and get rid of all the others. If you like your PC clean and tidy, you may want to remove some of those for instance.Purpose of Visual C++ RedistributableDevelopers who create programs for Windows using Microsoft Visual C++ — previously available as a standalone but now part of Microsoft Visual Studio — may use so-called standard libraries that exist already to add functionality to their programs. This saves time, and is often better than having to reinvent the wheel by creating the functionality from scratch. When these libraries are used, developers may either include what is required to power these functions in their programs, or they may use a Visual C++ Redistributable instead for that. When a developer decides to use redistributables, those do get installed on the user’s PC if not installed already. That’s one benefit of using redistributables, as programs may all use a redistributable that is already installed on the Windows PC.This does not explain however why you may see five, ten or even twenty different versions of the Microsoft Visual c++ Redistributable installed on your Windows machine. You can check the installed versions of the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package on your Windows machine in the following ways:Any version: Use the shortcut Windows-Pause to open the Control Panel. Select Control Panel Home, and on the page that opens Programs and Features.Windows 10: Use Windows-I to open the Settings application. If you use the Creators Update version or newer, select Apps > Apps & Features, and scroll down until you find the packages listed. If you use an older version of Windows 10, select System, and find the application listings there. Why so many?Windows may ship with some Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable installations already, but most are installed when you install programs that require them on the system. There are a couple of reasons why you see this many of them installed on your computer:32-bit and 64-bit versions are made available. While 32-bit Windows users will only see 32-bit versions of the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable version, you may see both installed on 64-bit versions of the operating system.Multiple builds may exist for any main version of Visual C++. Eleven different versions of Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable exist for instance, and they may all be installed next to each other. The main reason why you may see so many versions of the same year listed on your PC is that Microsoft never released a unified redistributable for a given year.If a developer uses a particular version of a standard library, the matching redistributable version needs to be installed on the system to ensure that the program runs on the Windows PC.While it may also run if a newer version is installed, this is not always the case and may result in error messages on load, and the termination of the program. This means that you should not remove the different builds of the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable from your machine if a program that relies on it is still installed on the system. In worst case, you end up with one redistributable installation for any program that requires them on your computer.Universal C RuntimeMicrosoft changed the system with the release of the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable, and consequently also with the 2017 and 2019 releases. These use a universal runtime so that only one (the latest one) needs to be installed instead of all of them. You can check out additional information on the Universal C Runtime here.Things to tryNote: before you start, consider creating a backup of the system so that you can restore the system if you run into issues removing installed redistributables from the operating system. The worst that can happen however is that programs refuse to run.Programs that you remove from your system won’t remove the redistributable, even if it was installed during program installation. The reason for this behavior is that other programs may rely on the redistributable as well.Removing these installations comes down to trial and error, as there is no easy way of linking programs to redistributable versions. One option that you have is to compare installation dates of the redistributable installations with program installations. If you find matching dates, you can assume that those are linked, and that the redistributable is still needed. If you don’t find matching dates, you cannot conclude however that the redistributable is no longer needed, as programs that you installed afterwards may require it as well. You could try and remove the oldest versions of each year first, and see how that goes. It may take a lot of testing to get it right though, and may not be worth it if you consider that all redistributable installations combined use a couple of hundred Megabytes tops when installed. It may be better to keep all versions installed just to be on the safe side of things, and avoid any issues with programs refusing to start after the removal.Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Packages downloadsYou may use the following links to download the most recent versions of the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable packages. The downloads include 32-bit and 64-bit versions if supported.Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2017 Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2015 Update 3Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2012 Update 4 Visual Studio 2010 Service Pack 1 (Installer)Visual Studio 2010 Service Pack 1 (Web Installer) Visual Studio 2010 SP1Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack 1 (Installer)TL;DRVisual C++ Redistributable files get installed when you install a program that requires them, when you install or update Windows, or when you install them directly. They are used by programmers who use standard libraries in Visual Studio.Programs require specific versions, and may not run when these versions are removed (if older or newer versions of the same year are still available). Now You: How do you deal with Visual C++ Redistributable installations?SummaryArticle NameMicrosoft Visual C++ Redistributable informationDescriptionThe tutorial provides you with information on Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable packages that are installed on your Windows machine.Author Martin BrinkmannPublisher Ghacks Technology NewsLogo Advertisement
